Kia Ora. My task seems simple enough..
Nice easy WinXP workstation. ESX 3.x VI2.x infrastructure, no network connectivity issues. Want to P2V as a VMware Workstation 5.x Guest, although going straight to VI is fine as Im supposed to be able to convert the other way etc.
Tried..
From the convertor installed on the VC server I have no trouble in connecting to the Phys WinXP machine. I can authenticate fine to this machine and retrieve appropriate disk information for resizing and other steps through to clicking Finished. Using the agent method I can only convert my Phys WinXP to a VMware Workstation (fine with me, creates a directory structure somewh to be added and run). Both the VC server (running VM Convertor) and the Phys WinXP machine can see the destination directory, so all good one would think. WRONG lol. Although destination directories are created and the base structure (incl. basic empty .VMDK files etc) when the job fails these are cleaned up.
Other method; Installed convertor on the Phys WinXP machine and do a hot import both to VI and as a VMware Workstation. If using the VI the connection is fine, storage, resource pools, all that good stuff is selectable. Same outcome. Bums out. lol
i receive this line in all of my log files regardless of method used ...
