Remote hot clone goes slowly, then fails at 67%

Hi - I'm trying to hot clone a physical WinXP SP2 machine over the network. I'm running the converter on a different (physical) WinXP SP2 computer. I'm resizing the only logical volume from a total size of 150GB to about 17GB, 14 of which will be used.  This volume comprises 2 physical drives and uses Windows Disk Management to mirror them. The box also has 2 NICs, both of which I'm trying to virtualize.

After the process fails, if I log into the computer I'm trying to clone, it tells me "The system has recovered from a serious error." The system log confirms that the system finished rebooting at 10:52:32pm.

It takes over 13 hours for the conversion process to reach 67%, then it fails with the following (truncated) log:

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? The only hypothesis I've got is to shatter the mirrored drives and try that way.
